Kimmel Claims Talk Show Hosts Are Liberals Because It Requires a Level of Intelligence

Late-night talk show host Jimmy Kimmel has really let his ideological mask slip since President Donald Trump took office, repeatedly taking politicized shots at Trump, elected Republicans, and their supporters on a variety of tough issues.
According to Breitbart, Kimmel made his disdain for conservatives abundantly clear once again on Saturday during a live taping of the left-wing podcast “Pod Save America.”
“It just so happens that almost every talk show host is liberal and that’s because it requires a level of intelligence,” Kimmel quipped to uproarious applause from the left-leaning audience.
The shot across the bow in regard to the mental acuity of conservatives and talk show hosts was tweeted out by Emily Black Favreau, wife of podcast co-host and former Obama speechwriter Jon Favreau.

Needless to say, the remark did not fare too well on social media, and Kimmel received a ton of backlash for the snide arrogance implicit in his anti-conservative commentary.
For greater context around what Kimmel said, The Washington Times reported that the podcast he had joined was hosted by a quartet of former Obama administration officials, including Favreau, speechwriter Jon Lovett, strategy and communications adviser Dan Pfeiffer, and Tommy “Dude, that was two years ago” Vietor.
The remark came during a discussion of the increasing politicization of comedy in general, but late-night comedy in particular, during which Kimmel reiterated a prior declaration that he didn’t care if his left-leaning jokes alienated half of his audience as he viewed honesty with his viewers as more important than being viewed as universally funny.

“The history of late-night television is, ‘Don’t show your hand. Don’t tell people what your political affiliation is.’ I think Jon Stewart really changed that, but when it came to network television that was really still the case,” Kimmel said.

“It wasn’t until late in (David) Letterman’s career that we knew what his affiliation is,” he continued. “Jay Leno — I think most people thought he was a Republican and he’s not, he’s a Democrat, but you wouldn’t know it from watching his show.”
“And there was some wisdom to that, because when you tell a joke, if you think the person telling the joke is unbiased, you can just appreciate the joke for what it is,” Kimmel stated. “The underlying reason is you could potentially lose half your audience if they feel like you’re not one of them.”
“Maybe the good thing about now about having 100 different channels and 30 different talk shows is you can be honest and you can talk about these things and these things that mean something to you,” he added.
He then shared his laugh-line about the job of late-night talk show host requiring a measure of intelligence conservatives apparently lack, and then unwittingly made the jab even worse when he added, “Not a ton, not a tremendous amount of intelligence, but you do have to be over the baseline,” which implied that conservatives in general are below the baseline of intelligence.
Of course, as liberals prefer to do the mocking instead of being mocked, host Jon Favreau had to take to Twitter the next day to try and quell the backlash against Kimmel by insisting that he had only been joking, according to the Washington Free Beacon, though he couldn’t help but take a shot at conservatives while doing so as well.
He was of course kidding when he said it, which the entire room got right away.

So there you have it, you poor, ignorant, snowflake conservatives … Jimmy Kimmel thinks you are too stupid to host a talk show and Jon Favreau thinks you are too dumb to catch the nuance of a poor joke.
Kimmel has said that he doesn’t mind losing half his audience if they are conservative and disagree with him on certain ideological issues, and we don’t have to tell you how you can make that a reality for him.
Please share this on Facebook and Twitter so everyone can see how Jimmy Kimmel just disparaged conservatives as being dumber than idiotic late-night talk show hosts.
